With Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 2, you get safer browsing and communication, powerful security tools, and improved experiences. Windows XP is the operating system release that unifies the Microsoft range, with all the desktop versions now built on the NT/2000 code base rather than the shakier foundation of Windows 95, 98, and Me. That makes XP a great upgrade for users of the now-obsolete 9x and Me line, but for those already on Windows 2000 Professional it is a closer call. Despite the similar name, there is no special synergy between Windows XP and Office XP, which works fine on Windows 2000.

The Security Center lets you check the status of your essential security settings.

XP certainly looks different, with rounded window corners, larger and more detailed icons, and a clean-look desktop that on first installation shows only the taskbar and Recycle Bin. XP is also more customizable than earlier versions of Windows, and includes visual themes that let you change the whole appearance of Windows in an instant. That is the window-dressing, but underneath are some significant improvements. One of the most interesting is Remote Desktop. A standard XP feature, this uses technology from Microsoft Terminal Server to enable users to access their computer over any connection; for example, by dialing into the office from home.

This is not just file access--this technology lets you run applications remotely as if you were sitting at your desk at work. This is mature technology, stable and carefully thought out. So, for example, you can print from a remote word processor to a local printer. A variation on the theme is Remote Assistance, where the user can allow a remote helper to view their desktop, or optionally gain control of the keyboard and mouse, in order to troubleshoot a problem. The feature can also be disabled to ease security concerns.

Laptop users benefit from enhanced power management, with options to extend battery life by reducing CPU speed and display brightness. IrDA support has been fixed so that, unlike Windows 2000, Windows XP can easily use modems in mobile telephones via infrared. A new screen font, ClearType, improves legibility for laptop or other flat screens, and there is built-in support for wireless networking using the popular 802.11 standard. A great feature of XP, also found in Windows 2000, is the ability to synchronize network files with offline copies. Previously, these files could not be stored securely, but now they can be encrypted.

The Information Bar in Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 notifies you when it blocks ActiveX control or active content and then lets you decide what to do.

For Web browsing, XP comes with Internet Explorer 6.0. The enhancements in IE 6.0 are mainly of interest to Web developers, and in any case Microsoft makes IE freely available to all Windows users. Although Java is not installed by default, it is not difficult to download a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Windows Messenger, originally a chat client, has evolved into a collaboration tool that allows for video conferencing and application sharing.

Service Pack 2 allows users to instruct Internet Explorer how to handle downloads from a specific publisher

The most significant new feature for Internet users is the built-in firewall. A firewall protects against one of the most disturbing security risks, in which other users unknown to you might connect to your computer while it is online, reading private files or causing other damage. XP's built-in firewall is a simple affair, but it does prevent most types of unauthorized connection.

Windows XP has strong multimedia features. The new Media Player lets you copy music from CD to hard disk, create your own playlist, and write your own music CDs if you have a CD writer. Although there is loss of quality as a result of compression, the process is easy and convenient. Media Player 8.0 can play back DVD video, but only if a hardware or software DVD decoder is already installed. You can also play MP3 audio files and MPEG videos, but sadly, not the popular RealMedia formats. In the end, Media Player does nothing that you cannot also do with free alternatives, but it is slick and nicely integrated.

The XP user interface is not a radical departure from earlier versions of Windows, but there are a number of small changes that together add up to a significant improvement. The Start menu now automatically features the most frequently used programs at the top of the list, and you can add and remove shortcuts by right-clicking the icon and selecting Pin or Unpin from the pop-up menu. Windows online help is integrated into a Help and Support Center that works like an internal Web site, with searchable help, tutorials, and walk-throughs.

Windows XP Professional includes all the features of Windows XP Home, and adds support for dual processors, encryptable file systems, offline folders, the Remote Desktop as described above, and extra administration features that come into play when connected to a Windows server domain. XP is demanding on hardware, and it would be a mistake to install it on less than Microsoft's recommended minimum requirements. There is also activation to consider, a mildly annoying anti-piracy measure that requires you to obtain a code from Microsoft for full installation, and in the future if you reinstall or make major system changes.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Features

IIS is the web server on the windows platform, similar to UNIX’s Apache server. Windows XP Professional SP3 has built in support for Internet Information Services or IIS. The built in version of IIS is 5.1.  When you install windows XP, IIS is not automatically installed and enabled. You need to go to Control Panel to “Add Remove Programs” to setup IIS 5.1. In this post, I am going to show you how to install IIS 5.1 on Windows XP Professional step by step.

Step 1: Open up Control Panel

You will see many icons and one of them is  “Add or Remove Programs”

Click on “Add or Remove Programs”

You will see the following “Add or Remove Programs” window

Step 2: Click on the “Add/Remove Windows Components” on the left

You will see the following window where IIS is listed as one of the options. Its in unchecked condition by default.

Click on Details button. You will see the following Window showing Internet Information Services (IIS)

Click on Details button again. You will see the following Window showing World Wide Web Service. Click OK and Viola! your IIS 5.1  server is setup and running on your windows XP professional box.

Step 3:  Create a Virtual Directory in IIS 5.1

Click on the start button on the bottom left corner of windows desktop and  choose “Run”. Type “inetmgr” and hit OK.

When you run inetmgr, you will see the IIS Services window as shown below. It will list all the web sites running on XP. Right click on the “Default Website”  and choose New Virtual Directory menu.

The Virtual Directory Creation Wizard will start up and show the following window.

Click Next and it will ask you to name the Alias for the Virtual Directory. Remember, whatever you type here is your alias and you will need to use this in your URL to access the website virtual directory once its created.

Next it will ask for you to choose the Physical directory to map to the above alias (virtual directory).

Once you choose the physical path, click next and it will show you Access Permissions window as shown below. By default Read and Write Scripts (such as ASP) are checked. Since we want to run a CGI program, will go ahead and check Execute (Such as ISAPI applications or CGI”.

Now I’ll right click on the Default Web Site node in the IIS manager and choose “Properties”. Go to “Web Site” Tab. By default the port 80 is assigned to the “Default Website”. We have created a Virtual directory “temp” under the default web site. All virtual directories use the same port as the parent web site. I am going to change the port to 81.

Now I’ll right click on the Virtual Directory “temp” in the IIS manager and choose “Properties”. In the following window, choose “Home Directory” tab. In this tab, you will go to Execute Permissions and choose “Scripts and Executables” so that we will be able to run CGI and ASP scripts. The default was “Scripts Only” which is enough to run ASP.NET program scripts.

Step 5: Browse the ConsoleApplication1.exe to see the output in browser

Open the windows explorer and copy the ConsoleApplication1.exe  CGI Program that we created in C# and Visual C# 2010 Express into the c:\temp folder.   Refer to earlier in my post 8 easy steps to develop and setup C# CGI program in IIS 7 to see how we actually created that exe program in C#.

Now go back to IIS manager and right click on the temp virtual directory and you will see the contents. You will see the ConsoleApplication1.exe on the right hand side. Right click on this exe and choose browse.

IIS will launch your default browser (Google Chrome in my case) and call the URL localhost:81/temp/ConsoleAppliaction1.exe. I can modify the URL a bit and append x=1y=2 and hit enter. You will see the output of the CGI and notice that the GET parameters are properly sent to the CGI program Airborne Troops

Windows XP – Wikipedia a enciclopedia livre

Windows XP Product Key is the most popular OS of all time. It seemed about 15 decades. A good deal of people from throughout the world continues to install it in their computers and notebooks. Windows XP is a century many preferred operating system created, distributed and marketed by Microsoft Windows. It’s Preceded by Windows 2000 and triumphed Windows Vista. Its codename is Whistler, that is part of Windows NT family. Windows NT family newest version was released on 14th November 2017 that is Windows 10 version 1709. It was formally published in October 2001 for general public usage. Before its launch, Bill Gates said it was the previous model of Windows NT household, also 100 percent bug-free. As a result of its popularity and amount of bugs, it’s had an additional few services packs understand as solutions package 1, services packs two, service pack 3.

Windows XP Review

The operating platform, which was able to conquer hundreds of countless hearts of consumers from all around the planet, remains applicable. This is mostly because of low system demands. Where you can’t install Windows 10, Windows 7, or other OS, it will quickly get a pig and also will work on the same 512 MB RAM plus a single-core chip.

Appearance

The system appears, clearly, less beautiful as the same ” 10″ or “7.” The taskbar and window frames aren’t transparent, and also the fundamental elements of this system are simpler. However, as training revealed, working with such a method is considerably more convenient than using a stunning and decorated Windows 7. Additionally, on not overly powerful PCs such attractiveness also makes the OS slow down. To establish this truth, we could remember the simplification of this”Dozens” port in contrast with previous versions of this OS from Microsoft. The same Office 2016 additionally became more straightforward for the sake of work.

Functional

About the performance for an average person, Windows XP Professional is uniquely satisfied. Except for a few points. By way of instance, in our example, the app for assessing the uniqueness of this text ETXT Antiplagiat didn’t wish to get the job done. The problem with brand new games is terrible also, sadly, it won’t operate. To some degree, this was because of the shortage of DirectX 9 support. Microsoft Office 2016 doesn’t run here. The app tells us that Windows is obsolete.

After the operating system, Windows XP just appeared on the current market; it had been slightly different, however over time spots, so-called support packs came out that matched its performance and adjusted vulnerabilities. In total, you will find three upgrades. They have been designated SP1, SP2, and SP3. There’s also a fourth service package, but it had been made not by Microsoft however by users themselves. They tried to enhance further the system, which didn’t wish to say goodbye.

Compatibility

If you encounter compatibility issues when installing and using Windows XP Professional (and they’ll happen ), consider installing a previous version of this program. Normally it helps. But occasionally, most frequently once you attempt to install new applications, you won’t have the ability to fix the issues with its compatibility.

Performance

Concerning functionality in Windows XP, everything is beautiful, but when using old applications. The system isn’t able to utilize DirectX 11 or high. Thus there’s no question of any gambling. Unless of course you aren’t fond of the first portion of life. Additionally very frequently there are issues with installing Windows XP on computers with 4 or more GB of RAM. The matter is that x32 pieces of this system don’t encourage a larger quantity and additional RAM is wasted. To be able to escape this circumstance, install x64 bit Windows XP Pro Counter-Strike 1.6 Setup

MDGx Windows XP Essential FREE Upgrades Fixes

After successfully being able to create a full Microsoft Office 2010 suite ThinApp, I have written a setup guide to detail the steps that had to be taken in order to get all Office applications working and to allow standard windows users (non local administrators) to activate office when launching the ThinApp for the first time. This article has been written using information for VMware sources and my own experience. The following ThinApp capture has been performed on a fresh installation of Windows XP SP3 with VMware ThinApp 4.6.1.

1. Download and copy the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and Microsoft Office 2010 installation files to the ThinApp capture machine.

2. Ensure you have internet access on the ThinApp capture machine.

3. Install VMware ThinApp on capture machine.

4. Run the Setup Capture wizard, start and complete the pre-scan process.

5. When the pre-scan is complete, on the Install Application page of the Setup Capture wizard, minimize the wizard and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.

6. The Microsoft .NET installation generates the mscorsvw.exe process that continues for an extended period, we need to stop the process with the ngen.exe tool. Open a new command prompt window and type the following command and press return:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen.exe executequeueditems

7. In order for Office 2010 to activate correctly we need to edit the Config.xml file and specify your Multiple Activation Key (MAK). By default, the Microsoft Office 2010 Config.xml file is stored in the core product folder in the Microsoft Office 2010 installation media. Explore the Office 2010 installation media on the capture machine and you should see a folder named similar to “core_product_folder_name.WW folder”. For example, if my Microsoft Office 2010 media was Professional Plus, the folder name would be “ProPlus.WW”.

8. Open the core product folder and locate the Config.xml file. Open the Config.xml with Notepad and add the following lines to the to the file file and save it to your local C:\ drive:

Note: Do not enter any spaces or hyphens when entering the license key in the PIDKEY value, this must be all one string such as ABCDEFGHIJK.

9. To start the Microsoft Office 2010 setup wizard and apply the settings in Config.xml, open a new command prompt window and type navigate to your Office 2010installation media by using for example “cd d:\”. When in the installation media directory enter the following command and press return.

Setup.exe /config c:\config.xml

10. When the installation starts click to accept the terms of the agreement and click next.

11. On the Choose the installation dialog box, click the Customise button.

12. Select Microsoft Office and then select “Run all from My Computer” as the installation option.

13. Click “Install Now” to install Microsoft Office 2010, this will likely take some time.

14. When the installation is complete click “Finish”. Proceed and click the Start menu, select the Run option, and then type services.msc and click ok. When the services snap-in opens scroll down the list of services and locate the “Office Software Protection Platform” service, right click this service and select stop.

15. Maximise the ThinApp Capture wizard that we minimised in step 5 and then click to start the post scan process.

16. Once the post scan process has completed, change the Inventory name to something appropriate for your use, for example Microsoft Office 2010.

17. Before building the ThinApp project , copy the OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform folder from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Microsoft to the folder %Common AppData%\Microsoft. To get to the” %Common AppData%\Microsoft folder” open the ThinApp Setup Wizard and click the “Open Project Folder” button, in the resulting window you should then see a folder named “%Common AppData%”  double click this folder then double click the “Microsoft” folder inside. Simply copy and paste the “OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform” folder into this location.

18. On the capture machine open the registry editor and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search\Preferences

In this location, right click in a white space area an create a new Multi-String Value with the name of, without quotes, “isolation_writecopy”. Right click the created “isolation_writecopy” key and select “Modify”. When the modify window opens, in the value area, enter the following information and click ok:

Value=PreventIndexingOutlook
REG_DWORD=#01#00#00#00

19. In the same registry editor window navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform

In this location, right click in a white space area an create a new Multi-String Value with the name of, without quotes, “isolation_full”. Right click the created “isolation_full” key and select “Modify”. When the modify window opens, in the value area, enter the following information and click ok:

Value=UserOperations
REG_DWORD=#01#00#00#00

20. In the same registry editor window navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment

In this location, right click in a white space area an create a new Multi-String Value with the name of, without quotes, “isolation_writecopy”. Right click the created “isolation_writecopy” key and select “Modify”. When the modify window opens, in the value area, enter the following information and click ok and then close the registry editor:

Value=ALLUSERSPROFILE
REG_SZ~%Common AppData%

21. Maximise the ThinApp Setup Wizard and click on the “Edit package.ini” button before starting the build process. In the ini file change the “MSIStreaming” value to 1 if you want this to be streamed ThinApp otherwise this will be a local ThinApp.

22. Click the “Build” button in ThinApp and wait for the build process to complete.

23. The ThinApp creation process is now complete and the applications should work and activate correctly on Windows XP systems. If you intend to use the Office 2010 ThinApp on Windows 7 operating systems, some additional changes need to be made to ensure that the product activation works correctly.

24. For Windows 7 machines only, in order for the ThinApps to launch and activate Office 2010 correctly you will need to disable the “Windows Search Service” and completely disable User Account Control (UAC). Disabling these two properties can be achieved by using Group Policy Objects as detailed here and here.

That’s it, you should now have a fully functionaly Microsoft Office 2010 VMware ThinApp that works on both Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems Photodex ProShow Gold 5.0
